Assist. Prof. Serhat Aras Tuna, from the Department of History, gave lectures at Evora University in Portugal within the context of Erasmus+ Teaching Mobility.
Tuna made a presentation titled “Portugal in Ottoman Archives” in the course attended by undergraduate and graduate students and professors of the Department of History at Evora University. After briefly mentioning the Ottoman-Portuguese relations in the presentation, the perspective of the Ottoman Empire towards Portugal was explained based on archive documents. Within the scope of the presentation, a sample was created from the documents between the 16th and 19th centuries and information was given about their content. In addition, books written about Portugal and news and articles in various newspapers and magazines during the Ottoman Empire were conveyed to the audience within the scope of the presentation. The presentation, which is a fairly new topic for students and professors, was followed with interest. The lesson given in two classes within the scope of the event ended with a question and answer session.
Stating that he was very pleased with the interest shown by the Erasmus offices of Muş Alparslan University and Evora University, Tuna conveyed his special thanks to Evora University History Department professors Fernando Martins, Fernando Branco Correia, Susana Gomez Martinez, Manuel F.S.Patrocinio both for their interest in the course and for their hospitality.
